With a robust educational background, Arnita earned her B.A. in English from UNC-Greensboro in 1984, followed by an M.A. in Public School Administration from Appalachian State University in 1992. Her journey led her to UNC-Chapel Hill School of Law, where she obtained her J.D. in 2001.

Arnita’s legal career is distinguished by her profound involvement in municipal law and the public sector. She previously served as in-house counsel for Guilford County Schools, honing her expertise in education law over five impactful years. Arnita has consistently advocated for her clients’ interests, fostering a deep understanding of governmental operations and legal complexities.

Her contributions have garnered widespread recognition, including the prestigious North Carolina Bar Association Citizen Lawyer Award in 2016 and the City of Hickory’s Women’s History Month Phenomenal Woman Award the same year. Arnita’s achievements extend beyond legal circles; she was honored as the American Business Women’s Association’s (Lucelia Chapter) Business Woman of the Year in 2003.

A minister at Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church, she finds fulfillment in faith, family, and her love for Carolina basketball.
