Tracey is co-chair of Teague Campbell’s Workers’ Compensation practice group and also serves on the firm’s Executive Committee. She leads her team with passion and 24 years of workers’ compensation experience. Communication is central to Tracey’s direct and transparent approach to client service. Her style wins over colleagues, clients, and judges, making her a highly sought after attorney and effective Superior Court and workers’ compensation mediator. In addition to her certification as a NC mediator, Tracey has been designated as a Medicare Set-Aside Certified Consultant by the International Commission on Health Care Certification.

Growing up, Tracey always had a desire to help others and set her sights on a career in the legal field at an early age. Tracey clerked at the NC Court of Appeals after graduating from law school, where she drafted opinions in workers’ compensation cases. Exposure to workers’ compensation issues at that level influenced her to become an advocate for employers in North Carolina.

For over two decades, Tracey has represented insurance carriers, third-party administrators and employers in a variety of workers’ compensation matters. During that time, she has developed an expertise in defending asbestosis and other occupational disease claims. Tracey understands the science behind these types of cases and can add valuable insight into how to successfully defend allegations of injurious exposures in the workplace. Tracey has also worked closely with healthcare providers and local government entities to preemptively address risk management strategies.

With significant trial experience at the NC Industrial Commission and appellate practice before the NC Court of Appeals and NC Supreme Court, Tracey brings institutional knowledge to every workers’ compensation matter she handles. She is called upon regularly to present continuing education programs for clients, peers and industry organizations. Tracey is an active member of the NC Association of Healthcare Risk Managers and the NC Public Risk Management Association. She also serves as the legal advisor for the North Carolina Association of Self-Insureds. Well-versed in handling the unique challenges healthcare organizations and governments face in managing claims, she provides practical, bespoke guidance to her clients.

Tracey also serves on the Board of Directors for the NC Association for Defense Attorneys, a key organization in the workers’ compensation community. Tracey’s leadership supports the mission of the organization, which is to be a cohesive body that provides services to its members and an active force in any potential legislation that may affect employers and insurance carriers in North Carolina.

When she needs to unwind, Tracey enjoys escaping to Emerald Isle where she can relax on the porch with a cup of coffee and a book. A fervent Carolina fan, Tracey loves spending time with her husband, Jay, their three children and their four dogs while cheering on the UNC football and basketball teams to victory.
