Jaden Grimes Selected As Scholarship Recipient
Teague Campbell is proud to announce that Jaden Grimes has been selected as the recipient of the 2023 Charlotte W. Clark Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Scholarship. Mr. Grimes is currently in his third year at Campbell School of Law and will be graduating in May 2024.
Mr. Grimes grew up in New Bern NC, where he attended West Craven High School. His coursework led him to develop an early passion for policy and the law. He then received a BA cum laude in Political Science from Campbell University in 2021, taking several prelaw and constitutional law courses. He also participated in several events through ACTION, a group aimed at bridging the police-community relationship. That work, along with his undergraduate studies of constitutional law, fueled his desire to apply to law school and become a legal and policy advocate. When asked about the impact of receiving our scholarship, Mr. Grimes stated the financial obligation of law school was a substantial barrier that he would not have been able to overcome without the generous assistance of others.
In Jaden’s words, “The Charlotte Clark Scholarship from Teague Campbell is an amazing example of this generosity. This scholarship empowers students who may have historically been excluded from the practice of law to take advantage of the opportunity that is available to do so today. I’m honored to receive this scholarship in Mrs. Clark’s name and to have met her family. I look forward to using this scholarship to continue Mrs. Clark’s legacy, and I also look forward to remaining connected with her family.”
Mrs. Clark’s family attended the presentation of the scholarship and shared loving memories of their wife and mother. They were impressed with Mr. Grimes’s engagement in the community, his personal and professional aspirations, and immense respect for those who raised him. Mr. Grimes truly embodies the essence of Mrs. Clark’s desire to strive for excellence.
