Pete practices in Teague Campbell’s Insurance Coverage Services group from Columbia, the capital city of South Carolina. Pete’s practice has been focused on insurance coverage analysis and related litigation for over twenty years. He is experienced in a broad spectrum of coverage policies, including General Liability, Directors and Officers, Errors and Omissions, Excess versus Primary, Property, Life, Disability, Occupational Accident, and Commercial Auto and Trucking, together with the ubiquitous allegations of bad faith. In addition to appearing in state and federal courts for coverage litigation cases, Pete often represents insurers in mediations and as monitoring counsel, evaluating issues of covered damages in cases which insurers defend under a reservation of rights. Pete has experience drafting and revising insurance policy forms and assisting the South Carolina Insurance Reserve Fund with underwriting and legislative issues. Pete’s goal is to be proactive in coverage cases rather than simply react to the moves made by the other side. He recognizes the importance of understanding his client’s goals, which are not always based purely on the legal implications of one case.

Pete serves on the DRI Insurance Law Committee and Claims and Litigation Management Alliance Bad Faith Committee in addition to volunteering his time with young legal hopefuls as a Moot Court Coach and Judge at the high school and middle school levels. He is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been included in the South Carolina Super Lawyers® list and the Best Lawyers in America© publication in the field of insurance coverage.

He is not sensitive, but for those wondering, his last name is pronounced “dvor-ya-nin.” Pete’s father emigrated from Ukraine to Australia where he met and married his wife, Pete’s mother. Pete has three sisters and their parents took them all over Australia growing up, instilling an appreciation for its beauty, as well as a proclivity to get outside and enjoy nature.

When away from the office, Pete loves to spend time outdoors, especially backpacking, gardening, and rolling up his sleeves for his next home project. He loves to travel, subscribing to Mark Twain’s thoughts about the effects of travel on one’s mind.
