From a young age, Megan’s mother instilled in her the importance of compassion and a strong work ethic, lessons that Megan has carried with her into her law practice. Prior to joining Teague Campbell, Megan spent nine years litigating in state court. She represented a variety of clients, including a local Department of Social Services, and numerous plaintiffs. Megan’s background provides her with the unique ability to analyze both sides of a case for its strengths and weaknesses. Her desire to foster relationships that affect organizational change has been a driving force behind her transition to defense work.
Earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wake Forest University in 2006, Megan stayed in the area to obtain her Juris Doctorate from Elon School of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude. During her time at Elon, Megan served as Notes and Comments Editor of the Elon Law Review, was the recipient of Elon University’s School of Law Academic Scholarship and the North Carolina Bar Foundation Inscoe Scholarship, and was awarded Strongest Comprehensive Criminal Law Performance, Spring 2007, and Strongest Comprehensive Criminal Procedure Performance, Spring 2008.
Megan embraces the practicality of helping her clients navigate the laws and courts in North Carolina, but also prioritizes being a gracious and attentive advocate. As a member of the Harry C. Martin Chapter of the American Inns of Court, an association of trial lawyers, judges, and legal professionals who share a passion for professional excellence, Megan is dedicated to maintaining civility, ethics, and integrity in her legal practice. Believing people are at their best when they are supported by their community, she appreciates the opportunity to give back to hers through local organizations. Megan was elected by her peers to serve on the Buncombe County Bar Executive Committee and is a member of Brookstone Church in Asheville.
A fourth generation western North Carolina native, Megan grew up in Weaverville just north of Asheville, and values the time she gets to spend in the natural beauty of the Appalachian Mountains. Megan enjoys running, indoor cycling and has recently picked up the game of golf. Megan, her husband Wes, and their rambunctious Golden Retriever, Lucy, love to explore Asheville and visit local eateries.
