Jacob has a tangible passion for the law that, when combined with his almost two decades of experience, makes him a formidable attorney in and out of the courtroom. Jacob is a seasoned litigator in the areas of general tort liability defense, municipal law, professional liability, and eminent domain. Jacob appreciates being able to provide a valuable service to his clients. In liability and risk management, he relishes when he encounters a new problem that needs to be solved. Jacob’s thoughtful and meticulous nature has led to his effectiveness as a negotiator and litigator.

Over the past five years, Jacob has represented the NC Department of Transportation in over 100 inverse condemnation cases related to the Map Act. His experience with the Map Act litigation includes countless court hearings, a jury trial and multiple appeals. Jacob has represented both municipalities and private contractors in litigation arising out of road construction disputes. He is practiced in working with municipal clients to ensure that their immediate objectives and overarching goals are achieved.

Jacob has been recognized for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America for Litigation – Insurance in the Raleigh metropolitan area since 2021 and has earned the highest (AV-Rated) ranking awarded by Martindale-Hubbell.
