Amy L. Pfeiffer brings more than 30 years of experience in North Carolina workers’ compensation law. Amy began her legal career as a Clerk to the Honorable John B. Lewis, Jr. on the NC Court of Appeals in 1992. She has handled workers’ compensation matters since 1993, beginning her career at the North Carolina Industrial Commission. Over the course of a decade at the Commission, Amy served as an Agency Legal Specialist, Special Deputy Commissioner, and ultimately Deputy Commissioner. In these roles, she conducted administrative hearings, ruled on medical motions, reviewed thousands of settlement agreements, and issued hundreds of Opinions & Awards. She also traveled across the state to speak with employers and schools about the workers’ compensation system.
After leaving the Commission in 2003, Amy spent a year representing plaintiffs before transitioning to a defense practice in 2004. Since then, she has focused exclusively on representing employers, carriers, and third‑party administrators before the Industrial Commission. Amy is a North Carolina State Bar Board Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law, a certified mediator, and maintains an AV rating from Martindale‑Hubbell, reflecting the high ethical standards and legal skill recognized by her peers.
Amy is an active contributor to the workers’ compensation community. She has presented at numerous CLE programs, Industrial Commission educational conferences, and client seminars, and has authored and co‑edited publications addressing Commission procedures, appellate updates, and practical guidance for claims professionals. Her involvement includes co‑planning major educational conferences for both the Industrial Commission and the NC Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section.
