Dan is a member of Teague Campbell’s Liability and Insurance Coverage Services groups. His practice has two focus areas: 1) litigating complex construction claims including commercial, multi-family, and residential projects; and 2) evaluating and litigating complex insurance coverage issues in construction and other industries.

With over a decade of litigating construction claims, Dan has gained significant experience representing general contractors and subcontractors in defect and delay claims and personal injury claims arising from construction projects and representing design professionals in claims involving construction administration and management and plan defect claims. In addition, Dan serves as outside counsel for several contractors and subcontractors, drafting contract documents, advising on contract disputes, and developing policies and procedures.

Dan’s insurance coverage practice focuses on evaluating general liability, excess, and umbrella insurance contracts. He provides coverage opinions, drafts reservations of rights letters, and other correspondence to insureds. Dan also prosecutes and defends declaratory judgment actions in both first-party and third-party contractual and extra-contractual claims.

Dan is an active member of the Defense Research Institute’s Construction Committee (serving as the Social Media Chair and Vice Chair for the 2026 Seminar) and Insurance Law Committee, the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys Construction Law Committee (serving as the Committee Chair), the North Carolina Bar Association’s Continuing Legal Education Committee (serving as the Committee Chair), and the North Carolina Bar Association’s Future of Law Committee (serving as the CLE Chair). Dan is also active in the local legal community, volunteering with the North Carolina Bar Association’s Grab-A-Coffee program, mentoring law students. Dan was selected to Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2025 and Super Lawyer in 2026, he has also been included in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America since 2024.

Outside of work, Dan plays goalie for several adult ice hockey leagues in Raleigh. Dan is married and coaches ice hockey and soccer for his three boys. When not at the rink, Dan enjoys Japanese culture, working on cars (including his 1988 Mercedes), and car racing.
