Teague Campbell Launches Cyber Liability & Drone Law Practice
Teague Campbell, a North Carolina civil defense firm with offices in Raleigh and Asheville, has launched a Cyber Liability and Drone Law practice. This service extends the firm’s current coverage work in the drafting of Cyber Liability and Drone Liability policies for existing insurance clients to ultimately assist our clients in defending claims and providing counsel on regulatory compliance. Partners Bill Bulfer (Asheville) and Bryan Simpson (Raleigh) will lead this new practice.
The Cyber Liability component has been modeled after Teague Campbell’s highly successful Trucking & Commercial Transportation work. In considering best practices for dealing with data breaches and cyber theft, the commonalities between accidents on the road and “digital accidents” was overwhelming. The principles of 24/7 availability for immediate response, partnerships with security experts for investigations and evidence preservation and a system of protocols for alerting employees, customers and fielding media inquiries were already present in our well-established Trucking & Commercial Transportation team.
Drone Law is in its infancy compared to Cyber Liability. However, both involve technology changing at a pace quicker than compliance and regulation can keep up. This is a dangerous, uncertain territory for clients. To assist in navigating this unfamiliar legal landscape, Teague Campbell’s Drone Law practice will focus on three distinct services:
- Drone Liability – defense of claims stemming from unmanned aircraft accidents, invasion of privacy, trespassing, nuisance and wiretap laws;
- Drone Coverage – designing coverage policies with endorsements to cover losses stemming from unmanned aircraft claims; and
- Drone Regulation – assisting municipal and commercial clients in obtaining proper permits and complying with Drone Regulation for the safe, beneficial use of unmanned aircrafts.
