Partners Bruce Hamilton & Julia Hooten to Present at NCBA’s Workers’ Compensation CLE
The 2015 Workers’ Compensation Section of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Annual Meeting will be held February 5th and 6th in Greensboro and two Teague Campbell partners, Bruce Hamilton & Julia Hooten, will be on hand to present portions of the CLE.
The once-a-year program, “A New Direction: The Changing Landscape of North Carolina Workers’ Compensation,” is designed for beginning to advanced practitioners, from both the plaintiff’s and defense bar. The CLE offers 9.0 credit hours, including 1 for Substance Abuse/Mental Health and qualifies for NC State Bar Workers’ Compensation Specialization Credit.
Bruce Hamilton and Julia Hooten will present the Case Law Update from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. on Thursday February 5th. The workers’ compensation section of the North Carolina Bar Association has asked Teague Campbell to prepare and deliver the workers’ compensation case law update every year since 1997.
Bruce Hamilton will also join fellow defense attorneys, as well as three plaintiff’s attorneys, on a panel discussion on legal theory Friday February 6th from 10:15 until 11:15 a.m.
Bruce Hamilton is a partner in our Raleigh office. He has lectured at each of the North Carolina Industrial Commission’s Annual Educational Conferences since 2001, was a council member of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the North Carolina Bar Association from 2001 through 2004, has been selected by his peers to be included in the North Carolina Edition of Super Lawyers since 2006 and has been listed in Best Lawyers in America since 2001. Most recently Bruce received the unique honor of being named by Best Lawyers as its 2013 Raleigh Workers’ Compensation-Employers “Lawyer of the Year.” He is a Fellow in the College of Workers’ Compensation Attorneys, and served as member of the legislative negotiations team for the 2011 Workers’ Compensation Reform Bill (House Bill 709) and the 2012 Amendments (House Bill 237). Currently, Bruce serves on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Association of Self-Insurers.
Julia Hooten is a partner in our Asheville office and the current treasurer of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section. Julie was the co-planner of the North Carolina Bar Association’s annual Workers’ Compensation Section Meeting and CLE for 2010 and 2011. She was recognized as a “Rising Star” by her peers in the 2011, 2012, and 2013 North Carolina editions of Super Lawyers and has been listed in Best Lawyers in America since 2013, as well as receiving the singular honor of being named by Best Lawyers as its 2013 Asheville Workers’ Compensation-Employers “Lawyer of the Year.”
